Where else can you have access to over 100 million viewers for your advertising spot? The Super Bowl ads are (supposed to be) the cream of the crop in advertising circles. Super Bowl XLIV had 68 30 sec. spots that went for over $100,000 dollars per second or roughly $3 million each. Did you see them? Was it worth it to the advertisers?
In 2010 CBS opened the advertising to cause marketing. One of the most successfull and second highest commented on was the Focus on the Family Tim Tebow Pro-Life ad. Made on a shoestring budget it garnered increadible pre-game controversy from pro-choice opponents which raised it's awareness and successfully drove so much traffic to the Focus servers that staff were asked to restrict their internet usage due to the increased (232 times normal) bandwith use.
If you missed the Superbowl ads, you can review them here. Check it out.
Our favorite: NFL: Take off (2010). A NFL thank you to "The best fans on the planet" starts out with a slow motion leap for the goal line by the New Orleans Saints running back, Reggie Bush with a sound-over of a NASA count down.
